WHAT IF ART COULD HELP HEAL ADDICTION?

Audience Award for Best Short Film - WINNER
"Black Star is the most meaningful exploration of the relationship between art and addiction that I have yet encountered."

HOW IT CAME TO BE

David Bowie almost died at 27...but he didn’t. He made it across the bridge. And as a result, he gave us 42 more years of brilliance...and unleashed an extravagant amount of creativity into the world. He changed industries. He innovated both art and business. His work was responsible for employing thousands. He made a massive meaningful difference in the world.
What innovations would Jimmy Hendrix have made with the electric guitar in his 30s? Would Jean-Michelle Basquiat have been the greatest painter of all time? What kind of music would Kurt Cobain have written had he lived past 27? Or Jim Morrison, or Amy Winehouse? What brilliant roles would Heath Ledger have played, had he not died young?
The headlines sensationalize these deaths – and we’re SHOCKED every time it happens, but only for a short while. Until the next one happens… Then we’re shocked again. And no one ever seems to ask WHY. Why does this happen so often? And what, if anything, can we do to stop it?
The Black Star Project deeply explores the relationship between art and addiction. If we could help any one of these brilliant artists across the bridge to the light on the other side, it could have a significant impact. Bowie was a shining example of that. But if we could help hundreds, or even thousands… Well, that could change our world.
"David Bowie plays a central role in this story… Not only did his art reach out across time and space and have a profound impact on my life… but Bowie is also the example of what is possible when these brilliant artists make it across the bridge, instead of dying young. Had he not made it through that dark, difficult period in his life, Blackstar would have never been possible."

OUR PROGRAM

The Black Star Project proposes a new, more compassionate and effective way to view addiction… as a massive opportunity to heal, grow and transform as a human being.

Ultimately, the only REAL way out of addiction is through PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT. Working with our partners at Lifebook and a small team of Harvard doctors, we’er launching a program designed to significantly decrease relapse rates in the addiction recovery space.

Our unique process guides recovering artists as they design a clear vision for their future – and create a detailed plan to accomplish it. This powerful 10-day immersion experience is followed by a year-long accountability program, where we help them implement their plan inside a support system, with all the tools and support they need to be successful.

This proven step-by-step process is unique and life-changing. We offer a complete life-development solution that allows artists replace their addiction with a clear vision for their lives and a compelling purpose to fuel it. And as a result, we help them achieve a more fulfilled, successful and happy life.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

If you feel called to support the cause...we’re not asking you to donate money. We’re asking for you to invest in art.

All profits will be used to create scholarships for artists who have developed addiction problems to go through this program.

We’re going to share with you the stories of the transformation you enabled...the life purpose you’ve unlocked and literally...the lives you’ve saved.

We hope you’ll join us and put a collectors print on your wall!
